The present work focuses on an analysis of the received signal fading as a function of the surface refractivity, by means of simulation in 5.8 GHz band for rural access links in the Department of Huancavelica, Peru. The objective was oriented to identify the climatic conditions under such fadings can be associated. For the simulation of the different surface refractivity conditions, the Radiomobile software tool was used, simulating the variation of propagation conditions between the values 250 Nunits to 400 Nunits. The results when applying the ITU-R P.468 recommendation showed a considerable maximum value of 300 Nunits for the Huancavelica area. Under this scenario, 10 links with signal fading were identified, mostly centered in the 250 Nunits to 270 Nunits range. From these refractivity values, it was possible to identify that this range is associated with the highest values of temperature (15°C to 20°C) and humidity (75% to 90%), typical of the Huancavelica climate. In the same way, it was possible to identify that the fading is mostly focused on specific areas of the province of Acobamba.
