We present the case of a 59-year-old female patient who arrived at the emergency room with chest pain of 7 days of evolution. She was admitted with hemodynamic compromise and the physical examination showed the presence of Beck's triad. Echocardiography showed severe pericardial effusion associated with right ventricular collapse, 350 ml of purulent fluid was obtained by emergency pericardiocentesis and the fluid culture isolated Betalactamaseproducing Staphylococcus aureus. This is an infrequent case in clinical practice, for which reason it is presented and a review of the literature is made
