The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of a mixed diet with three types of grasses on Cavia porcellus (guinea pig) regarding productive and economic indices in intensive breeding. Sixty guinea pigs from the Peruvian line, both females and males, 15 days old with an average initial weight of 314.12 g, were used. They were distributed using a randomized complete block design with three treatments: corn husk (Zea mays), forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), purple variety elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum x Pennisetum typhoides) and four replications,the blocking factor was the animals' weight at the beginning of the experiment, with each experimental unit consisting of five animals. Diets were formulated to meet the nutritional requirements of guinea pigs in each experimental phase and according to the type of forage. The results were analyzed using analysis of variance and means were compared using Tukey's test. In the growth phase, higher weight gain (P<0.05) was obtained in the corn husk treatment; there was no significant difference (P>0.05) in feed conversion between corn husk and forage sorghum treatments, but there was with purple grass. In the fattening phase, significant variation in weight gain (P<0.05) was found between corn husk and forage sorghum, and purple grass. In feed conversion, the corn husk treatment did not show significant influence (P>0.05) over the forage sorghum treatment, but it did with the purple grass treatment (P<0.05). Significant differences between treatments (P<0.05) were found in total period in weight gain and feed conversion, but not in feed consumption. The highest profitability was obtained with the corn husk treatment, followed by forage sorghum, and with the worst profitability, purple grass. It is concluded that the corn husk treatment has better productive and economic performance in guinea pig breeding in intensive systems
