Determine the factors related to daytime sleepiness in public transport drivers. Material and Method: An analytical cross-sectional study was carried out on public transport drivers in the city of Trujillo who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria (223). The data was collected through a survey, which was applied anonymously and in order of arrival at the final whereabouts of the companies. The EPWORTH scale was used to assess whether the driver has daytime sleepiness. Results: About 223 drivers, 161 present daytime sleepiness according to the EPWORTH scale. In the group with daytime sleepiness, the median was 14 hours of work per day, 14 years of experience and 4 children per driver; the average age was 45.2 ± 9.6, 67% consumed alcohol once a week, and 87% had some comorbidity. For the group without daytime sleepiness, the median was 12 hours of work per day, 7 years of experience, 2 children per driver, the average age was 35.1 ± 7.7, 52% consumed alcohol at least once a week. week and only 23% had a comorbidity. Conclusions: The factors related to daytime sleepiness in public transport drivers in the city of Trujillo were the daily hours of sleep, daily hours of work, years of experience, rest days per week, drug use, alcohol use, age, number of children, marital status, paternity and weight.
