To determine if atopic dermatitis is a risk factor for impetigo in children treated at the Belén de Trujillo Hospital. Materials and method: An observational, analytical, case-control study was carried out. 174 children who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included. Results: 56.9% of children with atopic dermatitis had impetigo, impetigo (p<0.05) is associated with atopic dermatitis and there is a 7.1 times risk of developing impetigo in patients with atopic dermatitis. Other associated factors were age (p=0.001), sex (p=0.000), exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.007), prematurity (p=0.000) and anemia (0.003), but low birth weight (p= 0.160) was not associated. Conclusions: Atopic dermatitis is a factor associated with impetigo in children at the Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
