Since 1971, Peru needs to import yellow hard endosperm corn to meet the growing and sustained internal demand that nowengadays reaches between 65% and 70%. For this reason, the use of superior corn hybrids, particularly biparental hybrids, is one of the best alternatives to get significant increments in the national production, in special, in the corn production areas in the Peruvian coast. The present research work was conducted in Fundo II, belonging to the Private University Antenor Orrego, in Trujillo, Peru, aiming at studying the performance of five single corn hybrids: INIA 605 (H1), Atlas 105 (H2), Megahíbrido (H3), Tropi101 (H4), Insignia 860 (H5), plus the three-way hybrid DK7500(H6). The ANOVAs showed significant differences in corn yield, ear and plant height, male and female flowering, ear length, rows-per-ear, grains-per-row, ear and cob diameter, a hundred grain weight, and length, width and thickness of the corn grain. The highest grain yield was for H5 with 10.31 t/ha, adjusted to 14% humidity, followed by H2, H4 y H6 who had 10.01 y 9.86 t/ha each one. H3 y H1 yielded 6.91 y 6.82 t/ha. Male flowering occurred between 55.3 (HH2, HH5) to 58 (H3) days after planting, while female flowering was between 56.7 (H4, H6) y 60 (H1) days. Plant height was in the range of 172.8 cm (H2) y 200.7 cm (H3). The highest number of rows-per-ear was 20.4 (H4), whereas H1 only had 13.2 rows in average. The number of grains-per-row was between 40.5 (H1) and 35.3 (H6). In general, all hybrids considered in the study had good plant health ad good ear aspect. Significant negative correlation was found between grain yield and both male flowering and female flowering.
