The present research work arises from the need to carry out a hydraulic simulation to know the floodplain due to the presence of maximum avenues in the Chicama river, in the Galaxia - Pampa Hermosa sector, due to the fact that they have been continuously suffering damage from undermining and flooding on the riverbanks, cause large economic losses to farmers in the area, with loss of agricultural land and erosion of the existing irrigation and road infrastructure, with the consequent interruption of cargo and passenger traffic. For the development of the investigation, field work has been carried out, starting with the respective field recognition, then the topographic survey work was carried out, starting in the Galaxia – Pampa Hermosa sector, km. 0+000 to km. 4+600. The field data was taken with a total station, brand LEYCA TS 07 5” R5000, by means of the radiation method from a static reference point duly aligned in known coordinates, to make the topographic plans in plan and profile. Then, the analysis of the maximum avenues was carried out, to know with a certain level of confidence, the maximum magnitude of the discharge at a certain point of the channel; This download will serve to carry out an adequate design of the hydraulic protection structures such as rock fills and dikes, with the application of statistics in Hydrology, the HIDROESTA Software was used to calculate the Design Flow. Goodness-of-fit tests were also applied to verify graphically and statistically whether the empirical frequency of the analyzed series fits a certain theoretical probability function selected a priori. Of the Linear Regressions obtained, the one with the smallest theoretical delta was used, the linear regression LOG PEARSON TYPE 3 with a Q= 1359.24 m3/s, assuming a flow of 1360.00 m3/s for design purposes, in the Chicama river for a return period 50 years. Then design parameters were determined such as the roughness coefficient of 0.063, stable width of the riverbed with the different methods and taking an average we obtained a width of 163.26 m. but due to the conditions of the riverbed, a channel width of 200 m was adopted, since there is enough space and thus obtain a greater safety factor both in undermining and in overflow. The scour depth was calculated at 1.79 m as an average in the scour in the 3 Normal, M. LEVEDIEV and M. BLENCH scour methods. VI The RIVER program was applied to calculate the riverside defense, and to determine the flood area through a two-dimensional simulation, the IBER program was applied, where it was possible to verify the vulnerability in the study area, the design proposal of the defenses being important. It will be possible to reduce the risks of flooding in the Chicama River in the Galaxia sector – Pampa Hermosa, Chicama District, Ascope Province in the Department of La Libertad
