AIM: To determine if the use of prior antibiotic therapy is a factor associated with repeated urinary infection in patients attended the Hospital II - 2 Santa Rosa Piura during 2018. METHODOLOGY: Analytical, observational - study of cases and controls, Applied to patients who were attended in Hospital II-2 Santa Rosa in 2018, information obtained from the clinical historyes through a data collection form. RESULTS: 75.6% of the ITUs occurred in women; 78.2% come from urban areas. Among the cases, the percentage of patients with a stable partner is significantly higher than the percentage of controls. The degree of instruction between cases of ITU for the first time is significantly higher than among cases with ITUs to repetition. The average age was 50.16 years. 88.5% of all urine cultures correspond to Escherichia coli; 9% to Klebsiella; 1.9% to Proteus spp. CONCLUSION. We do find a relationship between empirical consumption of antibiotics and an increased risk of urinary tract infections with repetition, with an estimated association strength with OR of 9.19.
