The research carried out, entitled ““Structural design with articulated pavement of the road corridor of Avenida España - Trujillo - La Libertad““, has the objective of suggesting an improvement in the trafficability and consequently the safety of both drivers and walkers that circulate these roads on a daily basis, which is achieved by proposing a new design. The characteristics of the subgrade that would support the structural design were verified by field work through the excavation of 4 pits, obtaining an average CBR of 11.42% classified as GOOD. The current vehicular load to which the road is subjected was also determined through the application of a vehicular traffic study, which made it possible to determine the load to be supported by the new structural design. Finally, at this stage, soil studies were carried out to determine the properties of the concrete and aggregate to be used as the base and subbase for the new pavement design, obtained from the Transportes San Martín quarry and the results obtained were satisfactory since they met the requirements to carry out the design. With what was obtained previously, the application of the AASHTO 93 Methodology was used in conjunction with the regulations established in the CE.010 of Urban Pavements; both provided a value of 3.10 as the Structural Number of the design; likewise, it presented a Number of Equivalent Axis Repetitions equal to 2'670,000 EE, value that was rounded for conservative purposes. After calculating the thickness for each structural layer, three design alternatives were proposed, of which a budget comparison was made for two of them, determining that the best alternative is the one composed of an 8 cm thick paving stone wearing course that will be laid on a 15 cm thick base and a 25 cm thick subbase, which presents a cost of S/. 13,107,062.75. In conclusion, the proposed design complies with the established parameters and will provide a good trafficability service, as well as aesthetically improve the roadway, making it compatible with the Historic Center of Trujillo, thus highlighting its attractiveness even more.
