In the present investigation evaluation of the soil collapse potential in the sector La Cobranza, district of Moche, province of Trujillo, department of La Libertad““ we seek to evaluate the collapse potential, based on the evaluation of the physical, chemical, hydraulic and mechanical parameters of the soil, as stipulated in the Peruvian technical standard E0.50 Soils and Foundations, in order to elaborate a sectorization map of collapsible zones and propose an optimal design of surface foundations. In order to carry out the research, a non-experimental approach was applied, with a descriptive level, which implied the identification of strategic areas for probing. During this process, test pits were excavated, samples were extracted, auscultations were carried out, and stratigraphic profiles were determined. Subsequently, relevant tests were carried out both in situ and in the laboratory, in order to interpret the results collected. After completing this procedure, it was determined that the predominant soil is silty sandy (SM), with a good drainage capacity, suggesting that it is a soil of medium bearing capacity. It was identified that the water table is 1.20 meters from the natural ground, which affects and alters the design conditions, especially with regard to the admissible capacity. This capacity was calculated using a local shear approach, proposing different foundation designs for square and spread footings, varying in dimensions and depths of displacement. The data obtained on physical properties were compared with the Peruvian technical standard, concluding that the soil does not present a risk of collapse. Finally, the implementation of square footings connected by foundation beams was suggested as an optimal design, according to the specific geotechnical properties of the area studied
