To evaluate if arterial hypertension is a serious factor that influences dengue disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study corresponds to a cross-sectional exploratory design, where 239 patients over 40 years of age, diagnosed with dengue by confirmatory tests who attended the Hospital Santa Rosa - Piura, were evaluated taking into account the presence of warning signs and the diagnosis of arterial hypertension. RESULTS: The average age was 53 years. It was also observed that 54.8% had dengue with warning signs and 40.6% had a diagnosis of high blood pressure. In addition, it was deduced that blood pressure increases the possibility of presenting dengue with warning signs by 2.34 times. CONCLUSION: Arterial hypertension is associated with dengue with warning signs and increases the risk of presenting this complication by 2.34 times.
