Objective: To determine if age advanced paternal is a risk factor for abortion spontaneous in patients treated at the Hospital Belén de Trujillo. Material and methods: A retrospective, analytical and case-control study was carried out in which 138 pregnant women were included, according to selection criteria which were divided into 2 groups: with spontaneous abortion or without spontaneous abortion; applying the odds ratio, and the chi-square statistical test. Results: The average previous birth and the frequency of obesity were significantly higher in the group of patients with spontaneous abortion compared to the group without spontaneous abortion. The frequency of advanced paternal age in patients with spontaneous abortion was 32%. The frequency of advanced paternal age in patients without spontaneous abortion was 13%. Advanced paternal age is a risk factor for spontaneous abortion with an odds ratio of 3.22 which was significant (p <0.05). The average paternal age was significantly higher in the group of patients who presented spontaneous abortion in relation to the patients who did not present spontaneous contribution. Conclusion: Age advanced paternal is a risk factor for abortion spontaneous in patients “treated“ at the Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
