The main objective of this research was to determine the psychometric properties of the scale to measure the components of the attitude of university students in Piura regarding tobacco consumption. A sample of 382 university students from the city of Piura were evaluated within six components: emotions, beliefs, thoughts, behavioral reaction, feelings and opinions. The internal consistency reliability test was carried out using Cronbach's alpha index, where the result was .947. Aiken's validity test was used to determine the validity of the scale to measure the components of the attitude of university students in Piura towards tobacco consumption, where an index of agreement “1“ was obtained with a bilateral significance of .032**. For construct validity, we used split-half processing correlated with the Spearman Brown statistic, obtaining a correlation coefficient of 0.900** and a bilateral significance of 0.000. Finally, cut-off points were established where the percentile level was mentioned for each direct score interval of the Scale to measure the components of the attitude of university students in Piura towards tobacco consumption in order to easily locate the level obtained by each person evaluated. As a result, we obtained the desired items and a reliable and valid questionnaire, also reflecting that the components “emotions“ and “feelings“ are the most responsible for the consumption in our population.
