Objective. Identify the risk factors for congenital hydronephrosis in patients of the José Cayetano Heredia and Santa Rosa hospitals in the city of Piura, from January 2007 to December 2017. Materials and methods. Cases and controls. Patients from the José Cayetano Heredia and Santa Rosa hospitals, in the city of Piura, between January 2007 and December 2017. Total cases of 63 patients with a case ratio: 1:1 controls. Each medical history was reviewed to collect the data through a file, which were recorded and analyzed with the SPSS v 24 software. Results. Weight was determined as associated factors <2500 (OR: 2.77 95% CI 0.128 - 0.599 p value 0.001), Tobacco Habits (OR 5.75 95% CI 1,207 - 27,445 p value 0.028) Alcohol Habits (OR 6.45 95% CI 1,368 - 30,440 p value 0.019), Harmful Habits (OR 6.36 95% CI 2.023 - 20.050 p value 0.002). Conclusions. It concluded that the risk factors for congenital hydronephrosis were the weight less than 2,500 grams, the presence of this being a factor that increases twice the probability of having hydronephrosis compared to patients weighing more than 2,500 grams.
