To evaluate the effectiveness of resilience and stress management training integrated with personal development activities to improve mental well-being in medical students. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An applied, quasi-experimental longitudinal study of two cells with pre – post test of intact groups was carried out, which evaluated 305 first-cycle students at the Antenor Orrego Private University. The students filled out questionnaires before the intervention, 6 sessions were conducted by psychopedagogue, after the training, the students were asked to fill out questionnaires, to assess the permanence or changes in both groups. MAIN MEASURES: Validated instruments of exhaustion, resilience, stress, gratitude, and happiness were used to examine the effects of resilience and stress management training on mental well – being. were used to examine the effects on exhaustion, resilience, stress, gratitude and happiness. RESULTS: With the application of the pre-test, homogeneity of the groups was found. A total of 135 students made up the intervention group and 170 control group, after the intervention it was found that emotional exhaustion decreased - 2.47 [P <0.001], resilience increased 1.54 [P <0.005], stress decreased - 1.32 [P < 0.002], happiness increased 1.61 [P <0.009], and gratitude increased 1.36 [P <0.001]; these results were observed in the intervention group. CONCLUSIONS: Training in resilience and stress management integrated with personal development activities improves mental well-being in the student of the first cycle of medicine. In our study, the values of emotional fatigue and stress decreased, while the values of resilience, happiness and gratitude increased.
