To determine if there is a relationship between elevated serum uric acid levels in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in adults. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Cross-sectional, analytical, observational study; with patients treated at the outpatient Gastroenterology clinic of Hospital I Luis Albrecht EsSalud-Trujillo, who met the selection criteria, from April 2022 to April 2023; with a sample size of 110 adult patients after simple random sampling. The database was obtained by filling out collection sheets; statistical analysis calculated qualitative variables, the Chi-square test was used, and for quantitative variables, the T-Student test (Mann Whitney U). RESULTS: Elevated serum uric acid is associated with NAFLD with a prevalence ratio of 1.399 (p < 0.05). The prevalence of NAFLD with elevated serum uric acid was 90.3% (56.5% mild, 32.3% moderate, and 1.6% severe). The prevalence of NAFLD with non-elevated serum uric acid was 64.6% (29.2% mild, 33.3% moderate, 2.1% severe). The variable associated with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease is intermediate serum albumin (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: There is a relationship between elevated serum uric acid and Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in adult patients.
