Objective: To establish if there is an association between patients with Diabetes Mellitus and Bell's Palsy. Material and Method: An analytical, observational case-control and retrospective study was carried out, which had a sample constituted by 267 patients between 30 and 60 years old (89 cases and 178 controls) seen in the Outpatient Clinics area of Hospital Neurology. Víctor Lazarte Echegaray in the period between the years 2012 - 2017. For the qualitative variables the Chi-square test will be used, for the quantitative variables, he will use the T test, with a statistical significance of p <0.05 and a Odds Ratio of the study predictor factor; In addition, using a logistic regression analysis, the evaluation of the factor and intervening variables will be carried out. Results: No significant differences were found in both groups with regard to the origin, degree of instruction and arterial hypertension. It was found that 43% of patients with diabetes mellitus presented Bell's palsy, finding a significant difference between both groups (P = 0.015) with an OR = 0.530 IC 95% (0.317 -0.887). Other statistical significance variables were age, sex and dyslipidemia; the average age of the cases was of 50.92 ± 7.47 and of the controls 54.28 ± 6.23 (p = 0, 000), 61.8% of patients with Bell's Paralysis were female = 0.001, in relation to dyslipidemia this was found in 29.2% of cases p = 0.040. Conclusions: Diabetes mellitus is associated with Bell's Paralysis being this a protective factor; in turn, age, female sex and dyslipidemia are risk factors for the development of Bell's Palsy.
