To determine whether obesity is associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia in patients treated at Hospital Belén de Trujillo in the period 2020 - 2021. Material and methods: An observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was carried out, where the estimated population was 135 adult patients. Patients were selected using the following criteria: age 45-70 years, BMI > 25 kg/m2, transabdominal prostate ultrasound and the presence of lower urinary tract symptoms. A 14 question questionnaire was used and the data obtained were calculated using the chi-square test and the odds ratio statistic Results: The frequency of older age group and family history was significantly higher in the group with benign prostatic hypertrophy (p<0.05, the frequency of obesity in patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy was 91/93 =97%, the frequency of obesity in patients without benign prostatic hypertrophy was 35/42 = 83%, odds ratio of 9.1, which was significant (p<0.05%). Conclusion: Obesity is associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia in patients treated at the Hospital Belén de Trujillo.
