Objective: To determine the factors associated with malnutrition in adult patients with grade V chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis. Material and methods: Observational, cross-sectional, analytical study in 105 adult patients with a diagnosis of grade V chronic kidney disease receiving hemodialysis at the Hospital de Alta Complejidad Virgen de la Puerta, to whom the Malnutrition Inflammation Scale or Malnutrition-Inflammation Score (MIS) was applied to diagnose malnutrition. The variables to be evaluated were: age, origin, polypharmacy, time of diagnosis of chronic kidney disease, time in hemodialysis program and the number of hospitalizations in the last year. To determine the relationship, chi-square was used, where a significant association was considered when the value was p<0.05. Results: The prevalence of malnutrition was 92.4% (n=97). Mild malnutrition was found in 20% of patients, moderate malnutrition in 37.1% and severe malnutrition in 35.3%. Age, origin, polypharmacy, time of diagnosis of CKD, time in hemodialysis program and number of hospitalizations in the last year were not significantly associated with malnutrition. Conclusions: Age, origin, polypharmacy, time of diagnosis of chronic kidney disease, time on hemodialysis program and number of hospitalizations in the last year were not factors associated with malnutrition
