OBJECTIVE: To determine if elevated triglyceride-glucose ratio is a predictor of in-hospital mortality in adult patients with acute myocardial infarction. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Observational, retrospective cohort analytical research. Data were collected from the medical records of patients with acute myocardial infarction who had triglyceride and serum glucose values during the 24 hours of admission to hospitalization in the Medicine Service of the Hospital Belén de Trujillo during the period 2015 - 2022. RESULTS: Of the 100 patients, 60 were exposed (ITG-G ≥8.96) and 40 were not exposed (ITG-G<8.96), of which the incidence of in-hospital mortality in the exposed group was 25% (n =15), being higher than the incidence of mortality in the unexposed group with 7.5% (n=3), showing a significant association in the bivariate analysis RR: 3.33; 95% CI: 1.03 -10.77; p=< 0.001 and multivariate RRa: 1.726; 95% CI: 1.067-2.792; p=0.026. In the multivariate analysis, cardiogenic shock was also relevant with an aRR 4.606, 95% CI: 1.447- 14.657; p=0.010. CONCLUSION: Elevated triglyceride-glucose ratio is a predictor of in-hospital mortality in adult patients with acute myocardial infarction.
