Today, most of the cities in the world face different problems caused by vehicle traffic due to the increase in the number of vehicles on the move, which are congestion, environmental pollution, excessive noise, increased number of road accidents, etc. This research is oriented to the study of the section CP la mariposa- junction PI-984 in the city of Piura district of Piura this road is of utmost importance in terms of mobility due to the activities this classified as a connecting road between the CP-la mariposa with the city of Sullana and the district of tambogrande and all the surrounding towns due to the large number of vehicles that circulate in this section a proposal is made to reduce vehicular congestion. For all the above mentioned in order to obtain a reality of the situation of congestion that exists in the section in the present investigation it is determined the variables that exist, the vehicular volume, the volume of flow among others using different methods that are used for the road capacity was analyzed using the HCM manual once determined the proposals for improvement provided by the MTC are taken in order to avoid this existing problem. It is concluded that during the week the variation of vehicles (volume) presents a similar variation in the intervals from 5:00 am to 21:00 pm in this section, cars represent the majority of vehicles circulating on this road to this we add the existing poor signage and geometric design 2.60 m. each lane in addition to the current state which generate traffic congestion and does not allow users to reach their destination on time.
