The present study evaluated different demographic parameters of the canine and feline population of the district of Huanchaco, province of Trujillo. Determined with the application of 2978 surveys in different blocks of said district. After processing, a ratio of 5.42 canines/human and 12.37 cats/human was obtained; the average per dwelling corresponded to 1.80 dogs and 1.60 cats. The average lifespan for canines was 2.8 years and 1.50 years for cats. The male sex prevailed in the case of dogs and the female sex in the case of cats with 51.75% and 51.48% respectively. The incidence of castrated animals was 8.70% and 7.24% for canines and felines, respectively. The mestizo breed was predominant with 76.34% for canines and 97.50% for cats. The radius covered by rabies vaccination corresponded to 70.16% in canines and 13.82% in cats. The estimate of the group of dogs and cats with owner of the district of Huanchaco in the year 2019, is 35,140 dogs and 15,397 felines. Concluding that the data obtained in this study will be an important resource for planning, canine and feline vaccination campaigns and responsible ownership programs, seeking to contribute to public health research and studies
