Nitrogen is the most demanding nutritional element for plants and its management constitutes a key factor to reaching higher yields. The efficient use of nitrogen is related to its availability at important stages of development, mainly at vegetative and reproductive phases. The present research aimed at studying two ways of nitrogen fractioning ((F1= 50%planting-50%V12, y F2 = 20%planting-50%V7-30%V12) upon grain yield of three commercial maize hybrids, DK399 (H1), DK7508 (H2), DK7088 (H3). The experimental layout was split-plot design with four replicates. The effect of fractioning the nitrogen was statistically significantly neither for grain yield nor for the rest of the variables. Nevertheless, F1 resulted in 5.31% more yield than that of F2. Among corn hybrids there was no significant differences for grain yield, but the differences among averages for plant and ear height, ear length and grain thickness were highly significant statistically. The F x H interaction was not significant for all the variables considered. This study was conducted at Campus II from the Private University Antenor Orrego, in Trujillo, Peru, during the 2016 planting season.
