To assess whether there is an association between sociodemographic, clinical and healthcare factors with the impact of COVID-19 on respiratory functional capacity after hospital discharge. Material and methods: Observational, analytical, cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of clinical records of 385 patients with a diagnosis of COVID-19 post discharge from the Hospital Alta Complejidad de La Libertad “Virgen de la Puerta, treated in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation service during the period July 2020 to March 2021 A data collection sheet for the variables of interest was applied. Respiratory Functional Capacity was determined using the modified Borg scale score (mBORG) and the 1min sit-to-stand test (1minSTST). A bivariate analysis was performed using the chi square test and the prevalence ratio was calculated considering a significance of 95% (p <0.05). The protocol was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Antenor Orrego Private University and registered with code EI00002445 in the Registry of Health Research Projects (PRISA). Results: of the sample of 385 patients, 228 (59.2%) had normal respiratory functional capacity and 157 (40.8%) decreased. The bivariate analysis determined that the variables associated with decreased respiratory functional capacity were: severe clinical presentation (RPa 3,029; 1,611 - 5,696; p = 0.001) and patients with chest radiography with degree of involvement according to RALE ≥3 (RPa: 4,079; 2,248 - 7,401; p = 0.000) Conclusion: The factors associated with decreased respiratory functional capacity were severe clinical presentation and chest radiography with involvement according to the RALE ≥3 method.
