Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude towards neonatal pain in pediatricians and pediatric residents attending newborns in neonatology in the Hospitals of Trujillo in the year 2023. Material and methods: An analytical cross-sectional study design was used. The sample consisted of 25 pediatricians, 30 neonatologists and 12 pediatric residents. Tests such as Pearson's χ² were used to compare proportions, considering significant those with a p-value of less than 0.05 (p < 0.05). In addition, the level of knowledge and attitude towards neonatal pain was evaluated using Spearman's correlation statistic. Results: The median age of the participants was 44 years. 82.1% had more than 3 years of experience in the neonatology department. 64.2% reported no training in neonatal pain. It was revealed that the level of knowledge was high in 70.1%. Likewise, the attitude was favorable in 74.6%. Statistically significant correlations (p = <0.05) were observed between the level of knowledge and attitude towards neonatal pain in the different groups of physicians (neonatologists, pediatricians and pediatric residents). A significant correlation (p = <0.05) was also found between time of work experience and training in neonatal pain with the level of knowledge and attitude, respectively. Conclusion: There is a statistically significant correlation between the level of knowledge and attitude towards neonatal pain (p=<0.001) in neonatologists, pediatricians and pediatric residents attending newborns in the neonatology departments of the Hospitals of Trujillo
