The current civil engineering thesis is within the research line of transportation, through which the geometric design of an expressway linking the district of Moche with the district of Trujillo located in the current Valle Alto Avenue in the district of Moche was carried out. The objective is to propose a geometric design of an expressway that will improve the vehicular flow in the aforementioned districts as well as provide road planning for the continuous expansion of the surrounding urban areas. The specific objectives are the following: (1) determine the most appropriate route for the geometric design of the expressway linking the district of Moche with the district of Trujillo, Trujillo, La Libertad, (2) preparation and adequacy of the design of the expressway between the district of Trujillo-Moche and (3) prepare horizontal and vertical alignment plans as well as the cross sections of the geometric design of the chosen route. The methodology begins with an arduous bibliographic review of international and national road infrastructures. Subsequently, the characteristics of the urban area to be treated are described. Having already obtained the information gathered in order to propose a solution, three alternative layouts for an expressway were designed. Finally, alternative 03 was chosen: a first-class highway with two 10.80 m roadways, separated by a 7.20 m median. In total, this alternative has a length of 5.77 km where the chosen roadway also consists of a bridge and four four-branch interchanges or also called conventional diamond interchanges along the entire stretch to be traveled. This alternative was chosen because it meets all the parameters given in our standard.
