Objective: To determine if dyslipidemia is a risk factor for ovarian cancer in patients treated in the gynecology service of the Belen de Trujillo Hospital during the 2012-2017 study period. Material and methods: An analytical, retrospective observational case and control study was carried out. The study population consisted of 252 patients seen in the outpatient clinic according to established inclusion and exclusion criteria, divided into two groups of patients with Ovarian Cancer Diagnosis and no Diagnosis of ovarian cancer. The Odds Ratio and the chi square test were calculated. Results: The frequency of dyslipidemia in patients with ovarian cancer was 61.9% while in those who did not have ovarian cancer it was 33.3%. Dyslipidemia as a factor associated with ovarian cancer had an Odds Ratio of 3.12%, which was significant (P <0.01), in the multivariate analysis the significance of the risk was verified for the intervening variables (Nuliparity, HT, hormonal AC, family history of cancer, age). Conclusions: Dyslipidemia is a risk factor for ovarian cancer in patients treated at the Belen de Trujillo Hospital.
