To determine if there is relationship between temporomandibular dysfunction and loss of support posterior occlusal in patients attending the UPAO stomatological clinic, 2017. Materials and methods: a prospective, cross-sectional, observational and descriptive study was conducted. 100 patients who went to the dental clinic of the Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego, who apply the Helkimo test and the intraoral assessment through an odontogram evaluated. Absolute and relative frequency percentage was presented in descriptive statistics. The inferential statistical test was used Chi-square. Results: with respect to the degree of temporomandibular dysfunction and relationship with loss of posterior occlusal support results show a 94.7% of DTM slight in the Group of patients with 1 to 3 pieces lost 5.3% of moderate DTM. In the Group of patients with 4 to 7 missing pieces shows a 65.7% of mild DTM and 34.3% of moderate DTM. The Group of 8 to more missing pieces shows 37.5% of mild DTM and 62.5% of moderate DTM. Conclusion: the results of this study demonstrate that a highly significant statistical relationship between the loss of posterior occlusal support and dysfunction there is temporomandibular.
