To determine if arterial hypertension is a risk factor for the development of sensorineural hearing loss in elderly patients at La Noria hospital in Trujillo during the period from January 1, 2018 to January 31, 2022. Material and methods: A retrospective case-control study was carried out in which 162 patients over 60 years of age were included, according to selection criteria, which were divided into 2 groups: patients with sensorineural hearing loss and patients without this disease; The data from the patients' medical history was collected using an information collection sheet, and later the odds ratio and the chi-square statistical test were applied to analyze the data obtained. Results: In patients with sensorineural hearing loss, the frequency of arterial hypertension was 54%, unlike the group without sensorineural hearing loss in which the frequency was 31.5%. Presenting an odds ratio of 2.934 (p<0.05). Using logistic regression, a multivariate analysis was carried out where it was confirmed that the factors: arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia, do not represent risk factors for sensorineural hearing loss. Conclusion: Arterial hypertension is a risk factor for the development of sensorineural hearing loss in elderly patients at La Noria Basic Specialties Hospital during the period from January 1, 2018 to January 31, 2022.
