Abstract: La presente investigación básica de alcance relacional tuvo como objetivo general determinar la relación entre autoestima y habilidades sociales en los niños de 5 años de edad en instituciones educativas públicas de nivel inicial del distrito de Laredo, año 2022. Para ello, contó con una muestra de 196 niños, a quienes fueron aplicados la Guía de observación de Autoestima y Lista de Chequeo de Habilidades Sociales para Preescolares. Los resultados indicaron que, predominó un nivel de autoestima alta (82.7%), y un nivel de habilidades sociales alto (68.4%). También, a través de la aplicación de la Prueba no paramétrica de Spearman, se halló que existe relación entre las habilidades sociales con la autoestima (Rho=0.769; p=0.000), el autoconcepto (Rho=0.733; p=0.000), el autorrespeto (Rho=0.757; p=0.000), y la autoaceptación (Rho=0.742; p=0.000).
The general objective of this basic research of relational scope was to determine the relationship between self-esteem and social skills in 5-year-old children in public educational institutions at the preschool level in the district of Laredo, year 2022. For this purpose, a sample of 196 children were administered the Self-Esteem Observation Guide and the Social Skills Checklist for Preschoolers. The results indicated that a high level of self-esteem (82.7%) and a high level of social skills (68.4%) predominated.
