The demographic parameters of the canine and feline population of the Laredo district, Trujillo province, were determined by applying 982 surveys. After processing, a ratio of 4.73 canines / person and 12.95 cats / person was obtained; the average per dwelling corresponded to 1.86 dogs and 1.52 cats. The average life span for canines was 2.7 years and 1.34 years for cats. Male sex predominated in the case of dogs and female sex in the case of cats with 57.1% and 50.6% respectively. The incidence of castrated animals was 7.37% and 4.82% for canines and felines respectively. The mixed breed was predominant with 77.34% for canines and 98.8% for cats. The radius covered with rabies vaccination corresponded to 71% in canines and 6% in cats. The estimate of the group of dogs and cats owned by the Laredo district in 2019 is 7865.96 dogs and 2873.05 felines. It is concluded that the data obtained in this study will improve planning, such as dog vaccination campaigns and responsible tenure programs, and will allow estimating the resources necessary to develop these occupations.
