In the present study the Prevalence of dental anxiety was determined in patients from 6 to 9 years of age attended in the Dental Teaching Dentistry Clinic of the Private University Antenor Orrego - Trujillo 2019. We evaluated 98 patients using a survey on the level of anxiety in dental care using the Facial Image Scale (FIS). The results of the present study determined that dental anxiety was higher in patients with mild anxiety (40%), and in a lower percentage, moderate to severe and severe anxiety (11%), respectively. When the statistical analysis was carried out, a significant difference was found between the groups (p = 0.000 <0.05). According to sex, male sex has obtained the highest percentage in mild anxiety (41%), followed by female sex (39%), while both sexes obtained the same lower percentage, differing in the level of anxiety, female sex moderate anxiety (8 %), male sex, moderate to severe anxiety (8%). When performing the statistical analysis, no significant difference was found between the groups (p = 0.873> 0.05). According to dental experiences, the highest percentage of anxiety in patients with no experience was severe (36%), in those who had a good experience was mild (59%) and those who had a bad experience was moderate to severe (36%). When the statistical analysis was carried out, a significant difference was found between the groups (p = 0.007> 0.05). Concluding the dental anxiety had significant difference between the groups; according to sex, the female sex obtained the highest percentage in moderate to severe anxiety and severe anxiety, whereas according to previous dental experiences the highest percentage was obtained by patients with mild anxiety.
