Objective: To identify the association of anxiety in increasing the perception of pain during angiographic procedures with local anesthesia, in patients with peripheral arterial disease of the lower limbs. Material and method: An analytical, observational, cross-sectional study was carried out; including 136 patients between 40 and 75 years; through the use of scales to measure the anxiety and pain of patients treated in the hemodynamics and digital angiography room of the Central Military Hospital. Applying the gamma statistical test to validate its association. Results: Of the total of patients; 106 presented anxiety and 30 presented no anxiety. Of the 106 patients; 43 patients perceived mild pain, 60 patients perceived moderate pain and 3 patients perceived severe pain during the angiographic procedures. Anxiety associated with the perception of pain was demonstrated during angiographic procedures of lower limbs with local anesthesia with a gamma value of 0.909, p (0.000). Conclusions: According to the results, it is concluded that anxiety influences the increase in the perception of pain during angiographic procedures of lower limbs with local anesthesia.
