Objective: To determine the risk factors for the development of breast cancer recurrence in patients at Hospital level III “José Cayetano Heredia“, Piura between January 2011 and December 2019. Methodology: Observational, analytical, cross-sectional type with retrospective secondary data collection with a significance value of p <0.05. Results: The study revealed that the controls had an average age of 53.6±11.1 years and the cases 53.0±9.1 years, the p value obtained was 0.495. The urban origin was 65% in the controls and 73.3% in the cases; the p-value was 0.308. Higher education was 70% in the controls and 66.7% in the cases with a p value of 0.582. Overweight/obesity had as reference the absence of it with an OR of 1.24 and a p value of 0.163. Staging had stage IIA as reference, with stage IIIA having an OE of 2.06 and a p of 0.049, and stage IV with an OR of 2.18 and p of 0001. Molecular classification had as reference luminal group A, with the triple negative having an OR of 1.91 with CI of 1.11-3.27 and a p value of 0.019. Hormone therapy had as reference the absence of hormone therapy; therefore, its presence had an OR of 0.55 with a CI of 0.34-0.88 and a p value of 0.012. Conclusion: It was determined that the factors associated with the recurrence of breast cancer were staging, molecular classification and hormone therapy. Of these 3 factors, only hormone therapy was found to be a risk factor for the development of recurrence.
