The objective of this research was to describe the relationship that exists between addiction to social networks and interpersonal difficulties in students of a public school in Lima, Peru. The methodology was quantitative, and the Questionnaire about Interpersonal Difficulties for Adolescents (QIDA) and the Social Networking Addiction Questionnaire (NAQ) were applied in a sample of 200 high school students. Regarding the results, the research hypothesis was partially complied. The addiction to social networks correlated positively and significantly with assertiveness and face-to-face communication. However, no significant correlation was found between the addiction to social networks and the variables of socialization and school participation. The results of this research allow us to show that face-to-face communication favors a complete interaction, while communication through social networks partially demonstrates social skills because it does not include all the communication components. Finally, health professionals should look for tools to control the use of social networks and encourage face-to-face communication.
