This thesis project consists of the design of a school in the natural environment of Pachacamac. The purpose is to explore the educational space, and the way in which spatial configuration can influence the learning process. Educational models are constantly evolving. Currently, the goal of education is changing from being strictly academic to a more holistic and integral approach towards students. Nowadays, it is sought that children not only acquire knowledge but also develop other skills, such as the ability to think creatively, the ability to work in a team, among others. These softer skills are not usually acquired through hard teachings in a classroom, but rather in more informal spaces. Therefore, the main goal of this project is for architecture to respond to these new needs and pedagogical principles. An architectural design that differs from traditional ones is required. To achieve this, the project will show a special emphasis in the design of informal learning spaces, such as courtyards, corridors, public spaces, as well as the areas of relationship between the school and its natural environment.
