Tourism is present in different economic activities, driving the development of localities and countries, offers travelers different types of tourism and also different activities for each type. In Perú, the tourist offer is varied by the numerous natural and cultural attractions that it has. While the growth rate of tourists is not exponential, it is vital to find the means to scale up without jeopardizing tourist attractions and their surroundings. Machu Picchu, the destination through which more tourists visit the country; However, one of the most challenging factors is transportation. Points, such as: roads and infrastructure, means of transportation, costs and service provided, are a matter of debate. That is why the expansion of the transportation system is considered the most efficient option; and that it must generate a positive impact on tourism. In order to obtain the adequate information, which allows analyzing and interpreting results, it was decided to use in-depth interviews and questionnaires in segments involved with the tourism sector. The findings found direct attention in seeking the sustainable development of tourism and quality in all tourist activity. Finally, it is concluded that the expansion of the transport system has a positive impact on receptive tourism; However, attention should be directed to developing other tourist attractions so as not to saturate one of the most important patrimonies of humanity.
