Based on an exhaustive literature review, the study proposes a model that explains the relationship between the academic library and the University based on the Theory of Change, focusing the analysis of the contribution from the perspective of social value. Four dimensions of University value in which the library has a key contribution are identified: Teaching-Learning, Quality Research, Social Function and Institutional Prestige. Likewise, the study identify variables that the literature identified as relevant for these value dimensions and collect examples of library services that demonstrate library contribution to the selected university value dimensions. Using the case of a Peruvian private university, the study concludes that, although the analytical framework is useful to make a qualitative description of the contribution, a simpler instrument is needed that allows the library to perform a self-diagnosis, collect, organize and centralize evidence and then facilitate an informed dialogue with key actors. Only then is it possible to use the framework to interpret the findings, formulate narratives, and collect stories of significant change that illustrate the contribution of the academic library to the university.
