The objective of this research is to determine the gaps between the professional competencies of practitioners and graduates of private universities and those demanded by financial companies in Lima. The methodology has a mixed approach. The sample consisted of 45 practitioners/graduates of careers related to the financial sector of private universities in Lima, 3 academic authorities and 6 employers of companies of the economic sector financial services (Managers or HR Managers). The collection technique was the survey and the interview, and the collection instruments were a questionnaire and two interview guides. Among the results found, 90% are agree/strongly agree with the relationship that exists between their job performance and their job position. Likewise, 80% consider that performance evaluation should be carried out in companies continuously. The 50% said that there are recruiting companies that do not consider the competencies for the job. On the other hand, the professional profile of the graduate of careers associated with the financial sector should be oriented to the development of soft skills (leadership, being communicative) and specific skills (financial analysis, stock exchange, investment, information systems). It was concluded that the existing gaps between the professional competences of practitioners and graduates of private universities and those demanded by financial companies in Lima, is mainly due to the lack of soft skills development, composed of aptitudes, personality traits, knowledge and, values acquired.
