The professional thesis is about identifying the perception of efficiency in the import operation of cosmetics and the influence in the competitiveness of the Chemical Sector, this based on four key factors in which the research will be developed. These are composed of the efficiency in the import management, purchasing conditions, the role of the Government and outsourcing. The key concepts are developed to understand the Chemical Sector and the cosmetics industry, as well as the concepts of international logistics and competitiveness models. Through interviews applied to responsible for the logistics area of companies that import cosmetics frequently belonging to the COPECOH, extract information to develop and analyze the four factors that make it possible to solve the hypothesis. The data analyzed suggest that the level of efficiency of cosmetic import operation is related to the competitiveness of the Chemical Sector, through cost efficiency, process optimization to have the merchandise at the correct moment and with competitive prices. Some strategies are described to achieve the efficiency in the import operability, among them having a system of management indicators, the outsourcing to centralize and standardize the operations with a single supplier and the correct use of the purchase conditions to have a greater power negotiation and allow cost savings.
