This research project is focused on developing a successful model of Environmental Management for small companies in the metalworking sector based on ISO 14001 and cleaner production. Under this approach the specific hypothesis holds that in Lima, at present, the success model to follow a median sustainable and competitive company in the metalworking sector to be applied in small businesses is based on the consolidation of good practice in Industrial Engineering, oriented environmental management. From this, 6 chapters in order to validate the above was developed. Chapter I, corresponds to the theoretical framework which involves analyzing all Mipymes of our country. To do this, we use data from the Ministry of production by 2012 to meet in recent years their participation, birth rate, mortality and contribution to GDP. It was also known that micro and small mostly not evolve and survive long-term competition exists. Unlike midsize companies consolidated with those who manage the day to day to become big business. Also, it was learned that within the manufacturing sector economic activity fabricated metal products has increased participation in Lima. Chapter II, corresponds to the diagnosis of metalworking sector. To do this, sampling techniques were used to determine the representative sample and thus to know the environmental management practices that apply. Chapter III, corresponding to the model proposed success, for it based on the results of a survey focused on the management process model chosen by adding an added value is armed. Chapter IV, corresponding to the validation of the proposed model, for this the expert judgment matrix was used. Chapter V, corresponding to the impacts generated by applying the proposed model, for it impacts matrix in order to identify and analyze the benefits that come with that model was developed. Finally, in Chapter VI, the conclusions and recommendations of the research are developed. Being one of the most important conclusions that most medium-sized companies in the metalworking sector perform as part of a waste management recycling. This shows us that their focus is at the end of the process. However, do not focus on minimization at source, and that prevention is better to reduce. So, this would be a point to reinforce in midsize companies.
