Although Information Technology and Communication (ICT) are now a regular feature in the daily activities of most people, it is people with disabilities which have found various barriers to interact with the technology that surrounds them, so some of them need assistance either to use a television or manipulate a computer. The company Emotiv presented a novel means of interaction between humans and computers, the Emotiv EPOC, with which you can perform different actions through applications that connect with this tool. These actions are characterized by being controlled or managed by impulses produced by the brain to capture thoughts, feelings and expressions of a person; ie through certain thoughts you can control the functions of the applications. The “EPOC“ project was created to address a solution to the constraints that people with disabilities found interacting with different technologies. To implement the above, a series of investigations will be made about the BCI technology, how they work, existing types, definitions and tools available. Then, we are going to investigate the Emotiv EPOC to understand its operation, what is the state of the art, what they are your technical requirements and a thorough investigation of its software development kit (SDK). We analyze the current context, behaviors, daily tasks performed by people with disabilities and their current interaction with technology. Finally, based on information collected, we will make three applications that connect the Emotiv EPOC with various technologies. All this, with the main objective to investigate the potential of Emotiv EPOC as a means of controlling various technologies.
