A two-dimensional non-linear hydrodynamic numerical model, based on the finite difference technique, and with two nested domains, was developed to study the tidal dynamic in the Tumbes Mangroves National Sanctuary (SNLMT). In the model, it was assumed uniform density, it was employed the hydrostatic approximation, and the Coriolis force was neglected. Besides. the time discretization was performed using the leap-frog scheme, while the advective terms were discretized by means of the upwind scheme. The bottom friction was discretized through an implicit scheme, whereas central differences were employed in the other terms. The spatial domain was represented by an Arakawa C grid and the temporal domain by means of a simple staggered grid.
