The study area is located on the left and right margin of the river Itaya, characterized by an alluvial landscape, specifically in the area called "low zone of Bethlehem", sector Pueblo Libre and San Jose. The area has permanent river access the Amazon River and the Itaya River girders speed boat with outboard motor or paddle canoes. Politically they are located in the Bethlehem District, Maynas province, Loreto region. In aim of this study it was to identify the sources of pollution and environmental impact of the Itaya river basin, Bethlehem district. 2014, related to river dynamics. In the study area is periods of low water or growing, the following sources of contamination were identified: inorganic solid waste, waste arrangement outboard motors and motorcars in mechanical workshops, waste product of sawmilling wood and household waste organic (latrines). It is displayed in both seasons, inorganic solid waste such as plastics and metals are deposited on the banks of rivers and lakes adjacent to this area, dragged by the current of the river from different parts; the remnants of sawmills (chips, offcuts, bark) are accumulated in the yards of them and in most cases turned into ashes. Open latrines located in ducts that drain directly into the river heaven, is another source of pollution of water and air; Physico-chemical analysis determined that the Itaya river is highly contaminated by the presence of total and fecal coliforms, making it unfit for human consumption. Clothes washing detergent directly into the river pollution is another factor. 60.0% refers accumulated using the river water to wash or cook their food and drinking water without any physical or chemical pretreatment, this action constitutes a risk to human health.
