The objective of the present study was to establish the relationship between the use of portfolio and the critical thinking in their five dimensions: logical, substantive, dialogic, contextual and pragmatic in students of the fourth level of the Foreign Language Specialty UNAP - Iquitos, 2016. It is a non-experimental research with correlational design. The population of this study were 25 students. For data collection, it was used a sampling technique and evaluation instruments, like: checklist, to observe the use of the portfolio level with the purpose of doing a documentary analysis of the final product and questionnaires, to measure the dimensions of critical thinking in the portfolio development. The relation among the variables was of 56%, between the use of portfolio and critical thinking. Indicating that there were a growing linear trend in the use of portfolio and the logical (0.7), pragmatic (0.5) and contextual (0.5) dimensions according to the Spearman Rho scale, this means that in three of five dimensions of critical thinking there are correlation of dependence between study variables. The documentary analysis research showed that to a better use of the portfolio the reflections improve, the students are coherent in their redactions, creative and critical in arguing their ideas.
