Introduction: Arterial hypertension is a chronic disease that affects an average of 30% of the adult population worldwide . Almost half of hypertensives worldwide do not know they have it, and of those who receive treatment, approximately half do not achieve controlled blood pressure. In general terms, only 1 in 7 hypertensive patients manages to have controlled blood pressure. (5) Therefore, it is extremely important to recognize the factors associated with inadequate control of blood pressure. Objective: To determine the factors associated with inadequate control of blood pressure in (9) hypertensive patients at the Regional Hospital of Cusco, 2023. Materials and Methods: Analytical cross-sectional study with correlational design. A 20-item questionnaire was applied to a sample of 231 hypertensive patients in the outpatient clinic of the Regional Hospital of Cusco, 2023. Patients older than 35 years were found, who are diagnosed with arterial hypertension and who have undergone pharmacological treatment for at least one month Hypertensive patients with blood pressure lower than 140/90 were considered controlled and those with values above these were considered uncontrolled. Results: 44.1% of hypertensive patients did not achieve adequate blood pressure control. The associated factors for inadequate control of blood pressure were non-adherence to treatment (p<0.001, OR=3.1, 95%CI 1.81-5.35), frequent stress (p=0.001, OR=2.4, 95%CI 0.24-0.70 ), monotherapy (p<<0.001 OR=10.0 95%CI 0.05-0.19), single daily dose (p=0.004, OR= 2.4, 95%CI 1.31-4.42), unfavorable doctor-patient relationship (p<0.001, OR= 5.1, 95%CI 0.99-0-39) and obesity (p<0.001, OR 4.6, 95%CI 2.48-8.81). Conclusions: Almost half of hypertensive patients did not achieve adequate control of blood pressure. The associated factors for this were non-adherence to treatment, frequent stress, monotherapy, single daily dose, unfavorable doctor-patient relationship and obesity.
