Objetive: Determine the pH salivary variation, before and after consuming sugary drinks and a diets drinks, in 14 to 16 year-old teenagers from the educational institution “Jorge Basadre Grohman”, Aymaraes – Apurimac, 2019. Methodology: The design corresponds to an experimental, analytic, comparative, longitudinal and prospective study. The sample is Seventy-five teenagers. Before the data collection, the teenagers brushed their teeth, and did not eat anything for an hour. The information was collected in four instances: before consuming the beverages, at 5 minutes, at 10 minutes, and at 20 minutes after consuming the beverages). The beverages were: sugary drinks (Frugos, Powerade, Coke), diet drink (Diet Coke), and the beverage used for control (water brand Cielo). The salivary pH measuring instrument was a digital pH meter brand HANNA. In order to process information there were used software such as Microsoft Excel, and the statistics program SPSS version 22.0 for data analysis at a 0.05 significance level. Results: The initial pH was neutral in all the beverages. After 5 minutes, the pH level in all the beverages decreased to an acidic level compared to the control where was neutral (6.7). After 10 minutes, the pH level increased to a neutral pH level in all the beverages except for the sugary drink Coke with acidic pH (5.9). After 20 minutes, all the beverages had a neutral pH level similar to their initial pH. The variance analysis test de ANOVA was significant: p<0.05. Conclusions: There was found salivary pH variation before and after consuming sugary and diet drinks. The sugary drink Coke was the most cariogenic.
