In this research work, the tools of the BIM methodology have been applied to a project of hydraulic infrastructure for irrigation, in a phase of elaboration of the work project. The research focuses in a practical way on identifying the benefits resulting from the realization of a BIM model, the 3D coordination and the generation of deliverables from the models, taking as a practical case a real project located in the Acocro district, Huamanga province, Ayacucho department. First, the digital models were built, at a Level of Development 350, in Revit and Civil 3D software, taking as reference the documents of the technical file. As a next step, the models were coordinated in order to identify incidents (inconsistencies between plans, lack of detail / specifications, lack of documentation, change proposals, among others). For the analysis of these incidents, evaluation sheets were prepared considering two scenarios: the first scenario consisted of proposing the solutions in the case of detecting these errors, in a design stage applying BIM and the second consisted of proposing the solutions in a execution stage, in case of working with a traditional methodology. Both solutions were evaluated and compared with respect to their costs of materials and labor, resulting in a potential benefit in case of using BIM tools. Finally, the BIM documentation (plans and metrics) and a construction simulation of the coordinated model were generated, from which a notable improvement in the quality of the project deliverables could be observed.
