In 2017, the event called “El Niño Costero“ caused the deterioration and failure of many of the hydraulic infrastructures (Intakes, bridges, riverside defenses, etc.) located on the coast of our territory. Due to this, in the present research work was carried out the hydrological and hydraulic modeling of the river Fortaleza for the dimensioning of the bridge Huáncar, which present cracks and undermining in the stirrups, In addition, the deck of the bridge is inclined and has some cracks, which is a danger to the traffic of people and vehicles. The methodology consisted of analyzing and processing the maximum rainfall information in 24 hours of the different stations located inside and outside the Fortaleza basin return period for 140 and 500 years, being the first for the design of the bridge and the second for calculating general and local undercutting in the stirrups. Then, we proceeded to calculate the maximum flow rate for these return periods by making use of the HEC-HMS software, then with the respective hydrograms we performed the hydraulic modeling in the HECsoftware RAS 1D and IBER, with which was made a comparison of wáter depth, speed, Froude number and water level; reflecting that the values obtained by these programs present great similarity. Finally, we calculated the hydraulic parameters for the dimensioning of the bridge such as the NAME, the bridge light, scour and free Edge taking into account the minimum beam level of the board.
