In Peru, rice cultivation has been affected by climate change, putting the population's food security at risk. In the present investigation, the performance of the Aquacrop model was evaluated in the cultivation of rice under the flooded irrigation technique with alternation of humidification and drying, before two levels of water potential in the soil during the stage of macollación, developed in the Experimental Area of Irrigation of UNALM during November 15, 2017 and April 21, 2018. The experimental design that was used was that of completely randomized blocks with two treatments T1 and T2 (0.15 and 0.30 bars, respectively, and a T0 control under flood, with three repetitions The plant material used was genotype IR 71706 developed by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) - Philippines to be cultivated in arid areas with drought problems. For the yield variable there were significant differences between treatments, with an average yield of 7.73 ± 0.74 t ha-1. For the calibration of the model, the efficiency s and evaluated using the following indicators: Pearson's correlation coefficient (R), root of the standardized mean square error (NRMSE), efficiency of the Nash-Sutcliff model (EF) and the Willmott index (d), obtaining NRMSE values ~ 9.7 to 12.6%, EF ~ 0.93 to 0.96, d ~ 0.98 to 0.99 and an R ~ 0.97 to 0.98, which is significant for an α = 5%, with a performance of “Very good” to “Good” with respect to crop cover. Therefore, the Aquacrop model is a tool that can be used to simulate the yield of rice cultivation, as well as for decision-making by producers to maximize profits.
